A favorite childhood memory of mine was visiting the nursing homes where Grace worked.  Mary and I were young girls, and Grace would take us to visit the elderly residents where she worked on her days off.  She adored the residents and you could tell that they were crazy about her as well. Grace was always doing something caring for other people.  She thought of others first in everything that she did.

Grace was born the same year as my Mother, Irmgard.  They shared a special bond because of that.  I'm sure they are having a chat together in heaven right now.

My favorite memory of Ms. Grace was during home group Bible studies at Chuck & Mary's house.  Ms. Grace would help out in the kitchen preparing the meal.  Then, at the conclusion of the meal, she would assist with clean-up, carefully saving disposable napkins, paper cups, or plastic silverware that could be possibly washed and reused at a later time.  I feel that in her heart she was being conscientious of a tougher time during the Great Depression where a great deal of poverty existed, but to our little home group where napkins were probably purchased in quantities of 500 or more and most of us would never consider reusing something we bought to throw away, it was kind of funny.  We'll miss you Ms. Grace, but thank you for the lesson in frugality.

I remember fondly what a sweet and gentle spirit she was.  She always had a word of encouragement.  I remember her and Mary watching my first born Catherine and just what a wonderful doting "Granny" she was.  I have fond memories of her washing bananas and eating ice cream, which she loved.  There are not many with her peaceful nature.  She will be missed, but I'm sure she is rejoicing in heaven with my mom.  I so grateful that they were on the same "bus" and were happy to see each other as they enter the gates of heaven.

I don't remember which one it was, but Grace once recited an entire Psalm (from memory) that she had memorized as a child.  And it was a pretty long Psalm.  It was pretty impressive.  It was also inspiring.  It's amazing how one person impacts the lives of so many other people in immeasurable ways.  Grace is and always will be a testament to that fact.

My Memories of Ms Grace from 2005 “Casper’s Cove –Lufkin

Ms Grace was the sweetest and chirpeist American i had ever met ,she was more than polite in her conversation and always had a song in her heart ,she even spoke with a sing song tone in her voice and I loved  it so much .She rose up early and kept humming to old Christian song’s and went about her daily errand cleaning the kitchen where I often helped her myself with Vinegar on the dirty dishes.
I lived in her home at Lufkin with the Smith family and there was never a day she was angry or upset over anything .She loved food and kept feeding me to, she never wasted food and saved her leftover in the fridge she was sad when Chuck had to throw away $100 worth food which spoiled due power failure after the Katrina hit Texas .she always advised me to eat healthy organic food she just loved ice cream’s and i got them too. Peanut butter was her favorite on brown bread .Ms Grace and i shared some wonderful times during those 40 day I lived at the Smiths home. On Sunday’s she was always the first dressed with her Bible in her hand ready for Church and she loved Church. She would sit at the kitchen table and read her Bible every morning when I came down for breakfast.. She often checked the news paper for great buys and kept the cutting to show her daughter Mary .Oh we went shopping too and she loved pink shirts and dinning too she was such a great women at 82 now i shed tears of Joy for her in India too.
I called her Aunty and have such fond memories of the afternoon sun when she gave food to the 5 kitties which were pets to the Casper’s Cove.
Aunty I hope to see you in heaven for we are friends for eternity.
